Heute: Meine neueste literarische Erungenschaft - "English Jokes and Puns"
Witze werden in folgende Kategorien eingeteilt:
- False Assessments
- Misunderstandings
- Insinuations
- Self-revelations
- Exaggerations
Und um das etwas zu veranschaulichen, habe ich mal zu jeder Kategorie ein Beispiel aus diesem kleinen, tollen Büchlein rausgesucht:
- Mother was thrilled to see little Mildred sitting so quietly and said, "Millie, I'm so proud of you sitting like a doll while your dad takes a nap." Millie said, "I'm watching his cigarette burning down to his fingers."
- "I won't have Mr. Jones kissing you like that, Mabel." - "But, Dad, give him a chance. He's only just beginning."
- Then there was this teacher who was crossed-eyed. She had troubles with her pupils.
- A man took his wife to a psychatrist and said, "What's-her-name here complains that I don't give her enough attention!"
- One theatrical critic said that he saw a play under unfortunate circumstances - the curtain was up.
