School for children is a non profit organisation who helps children in India basing on the help of european Professionals. Here is a little description of what we do.
VILLAGES WHERE SFC OPERATES
? Population: about 500,000
? The population lives with an average 0,1 $
a day
? 2% of the villages inhabitants have access to
sanitary fittings
? 12% of the population has a minimum
education
? 3% of the children are registered
? 95% of the children under 5 are undernourished
THE CASTE SYSTEM
? 75% of the population is divided into castes, with specific rights and privileges
? 25% of the population does not belong to any caste or tribe and lives in slums or
in rural areas in condition of extreme poverty. This implies:
? Malnutrition
? Exploitation
? Poor hygienic conditions
? Poor or non-existent standard of education
? We are a team of professionals who devote their time to the organization and
management of School for Children
? Italian volunteers are in charge of:

? Information system management (children?s files)
? Monitoring children in School for Children villages
? Constructing new Shelters
? Indian volunteers and employees
(social workers, teachers, accountants, supervisors)

? High rate of male alcoholism
? Debts with usurers and landowners
? Payment of debts through bonded labour
? Suicides caused by debts
? Child abuse and ill-treatment
? Murders committed for dowry
? Slums in cities:
? 85% of the population is composed of rag pickers

KHAMMAM: Remedial School for dropout children:
We grant food and lodging
to 370 needy children
BOMBAY: Slums:
We support 50 children in their
studies

We guarantee education and support to 250 children in the villages.
